How do I create a marker?

Do you want to mark a position in the film? To tag the first appearance of a person - or for later research? Use “Markers” to place small bookmarks on the timeline.

This is how you create a marker

In the toolbar on the right you will find a small “Pin” icon. Click on it to expand the markers section.

1. Jump to the desired point in the video.
2. Click the “+” icon on the top right in the markers section.
3. Optional: Use the keyboard shortcut “Alt” + “Shift” + “M” to create a new marker.
4. Add a “Title” and click “Save”.

The new marker appears in the list to the right and at the bottom of the timeline. Click on any marker to jump directly to that point in the video.

Additional features

• Drag a marker on the timeline to move it.
• If you add a tag, then you can filter markers in the “Tags” section at the top right.
• Add a note to a marker, e.g. to leave a link for later research.
• Export a .docx with all markers and notes using “Export markers…” in the context menu at the bottom right.

Tip: If you introduce a “First Appearances” tag, you can easily create a list of all first appearances in the video, export it and later copy it into your manuscript.
